The Global Indigenous Network connects indigenous peoples around the world to share and learn from each other’s experiences.

 

Guiding the Global Indigenous Network are principles outlining how we intend to operate.

 

 

Manaakitanga

(The Principle of Showing Care and Respect)

The process of showing respect, generosity and care for all those involved.

Mana Motuhake

(The Principle of Self-determination and Empowerment)

By indigenous for indigenous. Also, recognising the importance of ‘cultural safety’.

Ata

(The Principle of Growing Respectful Relationships)

Maintaining a respectful relationship between the each other is integral.

Kaupapa

(The Principle of Collective Philosophy)

A commitment to a collective approach to advance indigenous knowledge and to provide equitable opportunities.

 

This network will produce useful, relevant and practical resources and advice for communities, academics, learners and universities and policymakers.
